"My paintings are about women. In depicting woman, I strive to explore, visually, the richness of her roles, the variety of her stories.
I have painted women applying makeup, shopping for clothes, engaged in conversations in the athletic club locker room, mourning for a dead friend, enjoying a ladies' lunch. These women are old and young, black, white and Hispanic.
Telling their stories visually enables me to discover the archetypal sister, mother, daughter, wife--the roles women play in their daily life, regardless of when they live."
